"Cocktails and Conversation: Launching the Project for Livable Streets"
A Center for an Urban Future Cocktail Reception

On June 16th, the Center for an Urban Future and Tech:NYC kicked off the launch of the Project for Livable Streets, a joint research initiative from CUF and Tech:NYC that will shine a light on opportunities for New York to lead the way on livable streets and help speed the pace of progress across the five boroughs. The event included a fireside chat featuring CUF Fellow John Surico and Tech:NYC Fellow Isaac Oates, moderated by CUF Board Member Jessie Lazarus.

While the Center for an Urban Future isn’t a safe streets advocacy organization, it's become clear to us that livable streets are increasingly vital to New York City’s future. In today’s talent-driven economy, having vibrant and safe streets has become a key element to attracting and retaining workers, growing the city’s economy, strengthening communities across the city, and expanding economic opportunity.

The research initiative this event celebrated was made possible through generous support from the London Plane Foundation, Gotham Gives, and Jared Weinstein. We are also grateful for general support from The Clark Foundation, Robin Hood, and the Altman Foundation.
